New Creature Loot PDFs!

Victory!
So, as you might know, I occasionally write articles about Creature Loot. And I recently added loot for Volo's Guide and Tomb of Annihilation.

Well, with the incredible help of Reddit user /u/writerchild85, I've updated the PDFs for the original Creature Loot tables as well as adding one for Volo's and Tomb. The Volo's Guide PDF has a full crafting index, including every monster part in The Monster Manual and Volo's Guide. The Tomb PDF has all the Volo's Guide Monsters that appear in the book, instead of links like my articles.

Here are the finished products!

The Monster Manual Creature Loot

Volo's Guide Creature Loot

Tomb of Annihilation Creature Loot

I say "finished", but I'm sure I will go back and find mistakes or update language as I find errors. Fortunately, I'm keeping these on GM Binder now, which provides great support for updating these documents. I plan to keep these links up to date! And if you want ot modify them for your own purposes, you can always copy the source code and do so.

Thanks for reading! And thank you, /u/writerchild85!

  1. I noticed that the arrangement of the text is a little broken and will be placed too far up and sometimes off the page.

  4. Do you have any intention of expanding this to Kobold Press's Tome of Beasts? It's third party but I know it's fairly popular.

Thank you so much for creating this resource. It's going to breathe life into a campaign that is relatively low magic and make every encounter with a new creature exciting for my players. As soon as I can afford it, you've earned a new patron. <3

    1. Thank you for your kind words! Hearing that my work has helped others with their campaigns is the highest praise.

I'm currently planning on taking a break from Creature Loot, but there will be plenty of good content here in the meantime. Once I return to this, I will probably be starting Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, so Tome of Beasts would still be a ways off. But it seems like a lot of people are interested in it, so I may have to dive in!

  6. There seems to be a misspelling on your ToA loot guide. On the cover image of it, Annihiliation should be spelt Annihilation.

  7. I'm having some issues :/ When I look at the document in the browser (Firefox 59.0.3), the second column overlaps with the chapter titles (the giant letters, that is). Also, I can't seem to download the whole PDF, only pages 1-3, for some reason. Will try on another browser soon, just to make sure.

    2. Thanks for the feedback. I've hearing a few people who have trouble rendering the documents in their browser. If trying a different browser doesn't work, I did post some Google drive links to Reddit.

  8. This is amazing! Going to really enjoy using it in conjunction with Strongholds and Followers when that comes out.

I feel bad asking for more, but do you think you'll do the demon lords and elemental princes from Out of the Abyss and Princes of the Apocalypse? The loot from the 20+ CR monsters is amazing and really flavourful, and I'd love to see more.

(I'd definitely be a patron if it weren't for my status as a poor student)

    1. I hear whispers that those monsters are going to be reprinted in the upcoming Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes. So, yes! Eventually :)

  11. I don't know if you're still monitoring these comments, but I have a couple of questions:

    1) How did you decide on Survival as the knowledge check for identifying Giant and Humanoid creature loot? I feel like Medicine might be a better fit.

    2) Are PCs meant to use the same skill check, and the same Loot Claim Check table, to both identify and claim loot?

I LOVE what you've done with this series. It's an excellent resource!
