We interrupt our regularly scheduled program to bring you some amazing news!

I recently shared my creature loot tables with Reddit's Unearthed Arcana subreddit. The talented and kind (and probably handsome/beautiful) /u/writerchild85 took the time out of their day to turn my work into a searchable PDF. I'm at a loss for words. Thank you, internet stranger!!

Here's the link:

(Note: This has since been updated, and the link has been updated as well!)

Thanks so much for reading, Reddit!

  2. Enjoying your great game synopsis of Lost Mine of Phandelelver. Just used the Intro set to teach a new generation my old school D&D methods to a new generation (10 yr old) We played the initial goblin scenario. really Enjoy your synopsis, although hard to follow the posts in order on your blog is there an easy way to navigate them in order? Is there more detailed info or breakdown on how you managed this session? Thanks again, well done, exciting.

  3. continued....for instance, do you just write your synsopsis from memory, do you video the sessions, other details on creating the translation from actual D&D session to written transcript.

    1. Thank you for your kind words! Your post made me realize that I didn't put a campaign tag on those recaps. So, if you click on the "Lost Mine" tag in the sidebar, you should be able to find all of the recaps in one place.

As to your questions, a lot of the methods I use in my games end up as articles on this blog. I can point you to specific articles if you're interested in a certain aspect of my DM'ing style, but reading some of the articles on here is the best way to get a general idea.

Finally, I usually tell the recaps from memory, but I'm blessed to have players with excellent recall that can correct my retelling of events if I miss something. I usually suggest that DMs make notes during a session, or record the session and make notes afterwards, if they are running a game that has a lot of plot to remember.

Again, thank you for reading, and let me know if you have any other questions!

  4. Hello, I am interesting in taking these items and adding them as an extension to HeroLab so I can easily upload them to my players, I was wondering, if I did this, would you mind if I made the extension downloadable by the HeroLab community or would you prefer I do not?

    1. Thank you for your consideration in asking before you did this! Yes, I'm perfectly fine with you creating a HeroLab version of these items. If it's possible, please share the blog when you post it to the community. I'm glad you enjoyed the loot!

  5. This is amazing my group loves the fact that they can carve up monsters and beasts for even more cool stuff and useful rewards for later on being in Chult they get a huge kick out of using spare parts as weapons and one of the most recent they took down was a Phase Spider they got some eyes that cast blink and the web sac gonna be fun to see them use these things later on in the adventure and gonna be very useful if they join a monster bounty hunter area where nobles look for people to hunt certain kinds of creatures for their spare parts.
